Nia classes are set to music and last for about one hour. The movements involved in each class draw on a broad range of disciplines, each with a rich history and powerful potential impact. Martial arts like aikido, tae kwon do and tai chi; dance styles like jazz, modern and Duncan; and other health-focused systems like yoga and Alexander Technique exercises are all incorporated, along with a variety of others. Of course, Nia participants are not expected to rigidly adhere to a pre-designed routine; you will have creative freedom to customize and adapt the routine as you see fit.
